Fishy Bits Addon

Hey there Blog readers! It is pouring here and has been for some time, we are so happy.... I should water my flowers more often LOL This rain will put some water in our rainwater tank, our only water supply, and give all the new plantings of crops by our local Farmers a huge boost! Of course I probably shouldn't have filled up the fishpond as it is now in danger of allowing the fish to swim over the wire covering (which is to prevent children falling in) which would make them very interesting to the cats LOL

Of course I so have to figure out how to dry Nicholas's uniform for Monday, but at least I have a couple of days :)

Next Freebie Installment

The weather has been beautiful the last few days. The sun is shining and it is warmer outside than in! Even got almost all the washing dry!

Sometime ago I planted some Marigold seedlings in the hope of finding something that would survive on our meager rainfall (I am NOT a gardener, see all the weeds!! LOL ) and although they are still tiny, they haven't done too badly. I even got flowers :) but we haven't had any rain for a while now, so they are looking a little sad. We have bore water we can use on the garden, it is mostly used for the cattle, but it is pumped up from a bore to a huge tank out the back, but when we tried to water my poor flowers, we discovered it was empty. Gary rang the landlord to ask him to pump up some water for us, and, after getting a few feet of water in it, we thought we were good to go.

Oh No! couldn't be that easy! When we first started cleaning out the swimming pool, very neglected for a few years, we discovered it was full of these horrible bugs.... dragonfly larvae would you believe... still makes me shudder to think of them.... This Bore water tank is also the water source we use to fill the swimming pool and it too is full of these larvae! YUK! and tadpoles... and other yummy bugs and wildlife. (To fill the pool we did eventually figure out to have the hose going through the leaf net first to catch all the critters before it went in the pool).

Well, back to my flower watering problem.... as the tank was practically empty, all the bugs had entered the pipe work and blocked it up. So Gary had to grab the pick axe and dig up the pipes so he could undo section by section to clean it out! So gross... full of these larvae! YUK!

but.... he did manage to clean the pipes out and fortunately the blockages were close to the tank and easy to get to. Goodness knows what we would've done if we had had to dig further as the pipe does get quite deep. Now... my flowers have had a lovely drink, the bulbs in another bed were watered and the fish have slightly more than a few inches in their fishpond! All in well with the world LOL

Bet you thought I was never going to get to the freebie hey! LOL

Heating

Just popping in quickly to thank you all for the suggestions to keep warm. I have looked at Radiant Heating, Split Systems, Gas, Kero and goodness knows what else. I guess the biggest thing for us is to find something that doesnt cost the earth to purchase as well as ongoing costs. As we are in a rental property, this is also something we need to keep in mind.

On the upside.... I have a pic of my new grandbaby.

so cute!!

Last Installment for "Summer Fun" Kit

well, I am still cold :) We have an open fireplace in the lounge room so we started that to see if it would keep us warm for free (we have a lot of cut wood around) rather than using the Split System for heating. Having been smoked out of the lounge, setting off all the smoke alarms in the house, and having to open the windows and turn on the fan to blow out the smoke...... we decided that the Split System wasn't looking so bad after all LOL

We have a slow combustion heater in another room (we had the dining room table in there, rarely used) off the kitchen, and we did use this a few times last winter to dry clothes, but it is too small a room to use as a lounge and now we have set it up for Rebekah and Chris when they visit including the cot for our new grandbaby when he/she finally arrives!

Rebekah had her 12 week scan yesterday and finally, this baby is a reality! He/she is 5.8cm long and looking very healthy. Bec had to go for a walk as the baby was so relaxed, hands behind head lying down in the curve of her womb, that the Doctor couldn't get measurements. After the walk though, bub was doing aerobics and gave a final wave as they finished up the scan. Bec and Chris ordered a DVD, I can't wait to see my grandchild in action!

We did get curtains up in the Games Room yesterday. This room has a full wall of glass, sliding door and two glass panels looking over the swimming pool. However, when Nicholas has friends over, they all camp out in there and it gets really cold overnight. We have been talking about the need for curtains in there for ages, but finally got them up. I do think that curtains finish off a room, and this one looks great. Now we want to repaint!

but now.... the real reason you are here.... The last installment of "Summer Fun"

Part Three of Summer Fun Kit

I hope you are enjoying this download! I am so cold here already and we havent hit Winter yet LOL . Heating in this enormous house is an issue and we need to find something that isn't going to break us! Checked out Kerosene heating (approx 45c an hour, but gives me headaches), Electric heating (costs about 60c and hour and the cost is rising as we speak).... and Gas needs us to actually have bottles installed at the house and as it isn't our house.... an expensive option! What to do.....

anyhow.... I'm going to warm myself up by posting the next link for Summer Fun and dream of warmer things to come :)

May 2010 Grab Bag

Have you bought your May 2010 Grab Bag from the VDBC Store yet! The files have just been revealed and the contents of this bag is amazing!

A couple of Sharon's contributions were RM00061 - Our Camping Trip and RM00063 - PlayDate at the Park. I used one digtially and the other, cut in paper and card!

These are some photos from one of our many camping trips to Hogwash Bend, a gorgeous spot on the banks of the mighty Murray River in South Australia! I have used only part of the cutter file, the grass and tree border does have a layer that has Bear silhouettes. I left this off as fortunately we don't have Bears running wild in Australia! LOL This layout has been created digitally and textures and styles have been added to the cutter files to give them dimension!

This layout uses all the cutter files from RM00063 - PlayDate at the Park. I have cut the files on my 15" KNK Maxx! They cut beautifully on my machine and I have used DCWV Cardstock, both textured and glitter to create this layout. Photos are from a trip to the playground made with my son and Daycare children some time ago.

As you can see, these files are gorgeous, and just a little selection from the Grab Bag for this month, so grab yourself a bargain!

Have a great day wherever you are!

cheers, caz

Part Two of Summer Fun Kit!

Another Installment for "Boy Stuff"

Hey there everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I finally got to talk (Skype) to my daughter in America where she is working as an Au Pair which was wonderful. Getting the time right to have a conversation with her can be difficult sometimes and the Internet here is so hit and miss, that it just doesn't happen often enough!

More layouts as a CT at VDBC

I managed to fit in some CT work over the last few days and here are the results....

TM00119 - Feel the Burn is another great digital cutter file by Tina of Card-i-ology Creations to scrap those fitness/gym layouts you've been hanging onto! (photos are from the Internet)

Nicholas used to participate in "Jump Rope For Heart" every year in Primary School. It is a wonderful idea to get kids having fun and raising funds for an important charity! This layout uses digital personal cutter files CD00684 - Jumping Rope that was a file available in a QMC that Chris runs in her Store on a quarterly basis. A new QMC has just hit the Store and, at $10 for 20 plus files, is fantastic value. Designed to show that cutter (Cricut, Pazzles, Klic N Kut etc) files can be used digitally! (photos are from the Internet)

Thanks for looking!

Have a great day wherever you are!

Next Freebie Installment

Bit chilly here this morning! We are definitely heading into Winter here in Australia.

But... on the upside.... I have the next installment for you in my Boy Stuff Kit. Did you notice the flower in Part One? LOL I have one in each of the first three parts. I was making layout using this kit once and I found, even though it is a "boy" kit, I still wanted the flowers in the corner :) So that is why there are 3 little bonuses LOL

New freebie!!

Happy iNSD weekend! although I haven't been involved in the day nearly as much as last year, I have already completed a project for a challenge run by Jan Bryson of Sam and Hailey Designs over at Paperthreads. Her challenge was to use her Trifold Shutter Card file and another one (or more) of her files, to create a Card. This was my finished creation...

The best part about this challenge and the finished card, was that Nicholas loved the result! I am so happy with the way it turned out that I think I might have to make one for each of my children, just to remind me how special and important they all are to me!

To celebrate iNSD and my gorgeous Boy...... I have a new freebie for you starting today! This is a kit I designed with Nicholas, and all the boys I know, in mind. It contains lots of grungy papers and bugs galore! There are 21 papers - textured, grungy, both plain and patterned

5 tags and 3 strings

6 frames, one with tyre tracks across it for that "run over" look

and lots of creepy crawlies, just for the boys!! All files are created at 300 dpi and papers are sized for 12x12 layouts.

There are 5 download links for the kit.... 6 links for an Alpha (Lower/Upper/Punctuation) and another link for an Add-On!!!! so make sure you keep checking my Blog to get ALL the bits!
