New freebie - Mar09 CC at PDW

Well, I found another Colour Challenge to take part in and I set to and created this Kit. However, Plain Digital Wrapper won't be benefiting at the moment as I can't post in their Forum, so you guys get it first. Lucky You!! UPDATE: Well, PDW came to the party just before the Mar 31st deadline and I was able to post this kit and layout there. :)

The papers in this kit have been created using my Textures which I posted as a freebie earlier. So, if you were unsure about what they look like, download this kit, check out the papers and then .... come back and download the Textures and give them a go when creating your own papers.

Please remember to leave a comment on the Blog if you download so I know you like my work.

This is the layout I created for the Colour Challenge at PDW which required you to use products from their Store (at least one product) and then recolour if required to follow the swatch supplied. This layout uses items that are not in my Kit.

This is a photo of my eldest daughter on her wedding day. She is so very beautiful and I love this photo of her.

Thanks for looking, don't forget those lovely comments I relish in!

New freebie - Mar09 CC at DSG

I have finally finished my kit for the Mar09 Colour Challenge at Digital Scrap Garden. I love these colours. It was quite funny, there was a gap between making the papers and finishing the kit. I named it "Washed Out" and then noticed the swatch was called "Spring Rain" which I had completely ignored when I started designing :)

There are four links in all so make ure you get them all. Please leave a comment on the Blog if you download, these are what keep me designing those freebies for you.

New Freebie for you to try

I have been trying out some more stuff in Photoshop over the last week. I have created some Textured Overlays for you to try. Once again, if you download please come back and leave me a comment on how I did as I haven't made anything like this before.

These overlays can be used differently by changing the Blending Mode on your layer. Choose "Overlay" or "Soft Light" for one look, "Hard Light" will give you a completely different effect, or just use them as they are. NOTE: These overlays look as though there is nothing to them, in fact the textures are really hard to see on the PNG files so it is impossible to drag and drop onto your new layer. So, the easiest way to use them is to open them in PS and then Select-All, Edit-Copy, then move to your new paper that you want to apply the texture to, Edit-Paste. The Textured Overlay will be on a new layer and you can adjust the Blend mode from there. Or.... CTRL A (to select); CTRL C (to copy) ; (on new paper)- CTRL V (to paste). Hope this is clear enough to follow!

Although my TOU states these are for Personal Use Only, I will allow use of these overlays in the creation of papers that are for Colour Challenges or as freebies. They are NOT to be used in a profit seeking form. i.e. you can make papers to give away, but not to sell. Please let me know if you create anything as I would love to see it. This is a limited S4O licence and ONLY applies to this product. All of my other creations remain Personal Use Only. Please remember that due Credit must be given in your TOU if you use these Overlays.

The preview of these textures shows them as layered over a base colour with no other effects applied. These papers are NOT included but are simply a method of showing you the effects these Textured Overlays can produce. As you can see, some are more textured than others.

These are some photos of my son when he was in Kindy. He was four in these pictures, and now is thirteen. He was so cute!

I have used Chris's Alpha Jumble as a mat behind the photos in this layout. I love the way I can use all those letters without having to put in each letter separately, what a time saver. I have created this layout in PSCS3 and have applied a colour and a couple of styles to the Alpha Jumble to make it stand out within the layout.

Nicholas always seems as though he is in a world of his own, even now! Hence the "Daze" in the title! LOL

New Freebie

I have been messing around in Photoshop for a couple of days as I wanted to try and reproduce something similar to the photo masks that I have seen around. I have made these for you to try out. There are 4 portrait orientated and 4 landscape at 6"X4". They are grungy, some more so than others, but I am quite pleased with my effort. Think I might leave the creating to others more qualified than myself though,as they are quite time consuming to get right.

To use these masks in PS, open the mask and then place your 6"X4" photo over the top. Then, making sure your photo layer is selected, press CTRL+ALT+G (PSCS3) to clip the photo to the mask. You can also right-click on the photo layer and select "create clipping mask" which will have the same effect.

I have made a couple of examples to show you.

My layout for the IL Mar09 CC

Here is my layout for the IL Mar09 CC. I have used my "Spring Picnic" kit for this layout and I am pleased with the way it came together.

Friends & Family = FUN

Journalling reads:

Katarapko, a Murray River National Park is located in the Riverland about 180 kilometres from Adelaide. The park is opposite the town of Loxton and is four kilometres south of Berri. Access to the main area of the park is by a sealed road just past the township of Glossop. Other access is gained by crossing the floodplain from either Lower Winkie Road or under the bridge at Berri. Due to the terrain the park is in three distinct sections, which can only be accessed through their separate entrances. The park was formed in 1991 and includes 8,905 hectares with a rich range of habitats. 75% of the area is floodplain and contains many wetlands both permanent and semi permanent. This is an important breeding area for many forms of life including water birds.

Camping in such beautiful surroundings. What could be more perfect! The kids had a ball, the River was gorgeous and it was so peaceful. These are just a few photos of mealtimes whilst we were away.

My first layout as CT at Inspiration-Lane

I have just put together my first layout as a member of the CT at Inspiration-Lane so I thought I would share.

These are some pics of my son messing about with one of the little fish he and his dad caught! When posing, the fish slipped, and he nearly got more than he bargained for!

I have used Jungle Gym All Star by Creative Confusion and a template by Andrea Gold.

New stuff for Visual Designs By Chris

The new Sketch Challenge for this month has been posted at Chris's Forum, and this is my submission for it. This months sketch is in card format and so I have created the front of a card digitally using some of the free files available for signing up in the challenge. I have also used some files from a digital scrap kit I designed and some graphics from digiwebstudios.

I am really pleased with the way this turned out. I love the colours and the files that Chris provided (heart, scalloped paper and paper strip) were easy to use.

The next layout I have created includes photos of my son at his 9th Birthday party at McDonalds. How could I resist using Chris's "Party Hardy" file and one of the latest files added to last quarters QMC, "Burgers and Fries". If you didn't join this Club, then make sure you don't miss out on this quarter, it has just been uploaded to the Store. This layout was also created in Photoshop digitally.

Have a great day wherever you are! Thanks for looking!

Exciting News

As some of you maybe aware ColorLine Design closed it's doors at the end of last month. A lot of the people involved with this site have moved over to Inspiration Lane and this site has grown hugely with this influx of new blood! But.... it brings even more exciting news! I was a member of the CT over at CLD, after resigning from selling as a Designer, and am now a CT member at Inspiration Lane. I am also going to be running two challenges!! YAY!! A Colour Challenge and a Template Challenge, both on a monthly basis as of next month. Should be a laugh, as I have never hosted a Challenge before, so watch this space for more news on those.

So...... head over to Inspiration Lane and check us out. Still some teething problems, not the least of which is that you will probably need FireFox as a browser in the Store (the Admin got stung with the latest purchase of X-Cart being buggy in IE and then not being very helpful with a "fix"),but at least it is free and a very small download, and well worth it, they have some great stuff in the Boutique!

So, keep a lookout for my Challenges, but in the meantime, head over and check out the Forum, there is already a lot happening there :)

New freebie - Mar09 CC at SAS

Hi all, hope you are all having a great week, of course I am already halfway through the weekend, but never mind :)

I have finally finished my submission for the Colour Challenge at Stone Accents Studio (SAS). I absolutely loved the colours for this month and it has been a challenge sorely missed over at SAS for some time.

I have also chosen Media Fire to host my files this time. There has been a lot of talk about viruses being downloaded from files shared at 4shared although I, touch wood, have not been affected, poor Pam was wiped out and NOT HAPPY! and rightly so. From what I can gather, it is affecting quite a few people, so I hope that none of you have been adversely affected by downloading my files. Anyway, I thought I would try out Media Fire and see how it goes. if you have any problems downloading, please let me know and I will try to help.
