I have a new Card Template freebie for you. Ileana (I Scrap Designs) has started a new Challenge at Visual Designs By Chris (VDBC) using my Card Template 33. So... don't just download the template, come over to VDBC and join us for a fun Challenge and maybe earn a prize :) I have used CD00873 - "Key To" on my card by Chris Durnan.

It was suggested that the Template could also be used to create a Layout and so that is what I did .....

Using Jan's Banner file JB00447 , I created a Happy Birthday banner to finish off my layout of our gorgeous grandson Lachlan on his first birthday! (digi kit is "Boy's Stuff and is mine) . I added styles and textures to Jan's banner files to add dimension.

Card Template is available HERE in MTC, KNK, PSD, PNG, SVG, AI and DXF format. Please leave a comment if you download, it only takes a minute of your time and encourages me to create more freebies!

Paperthreads also has a couple of new Challenges going on this month.. A new Challenge is the Colour Challenge hosted by Michelle. This Challenge gives you a colour palette and then you have to create a project using a cutter file from a Paperthreads Designer and the colours supplied. I created a digital scrapbook kit for the challenge and then used Michelle's Swirly Flower tag on my layout. I would love to share my digi kit, but unfortunately I cannot get it to upload. I have tried 4Shared, Mediafire and Box. I even signed up for FileDropper and still no luck. So ...... you may have to wait a little longer for that file. In the meantime, here is my layout created using the kit.

Even though the subjects are boys, the kit colours went really well with what the boys were wearing so I went with it. The title is written on Michelle's file which is not included in my kit. I had added styles and textures to the cutter files to add dimension.

The other challenge is a Card Challenge hosted by Shelly. This is using my Card Template 32, available below (scroll down for link) and as I had already created a card, I decided to create a Layout with this template as well. Here is the result. I have used Shelly's Spring Splendor - SS00085 and Carrie's CS00048 - Ballons for this layout. I have added styles and textures to the cutter files to add dimension. Once again layout created in PSCS5.

This is a photo of Lachlan enjoying a "Cake Smash" with what was left of his birthday cake. After he had finished playing and stuffing his face, he just upt and crawled off to the bath.... so cute!

New layout for VDBC

I have finally found some time to make a couple of digital scrapbook layouts. The first layout is for the Sketch Challenge currently being run at Visual Designs by Chris and The More Team. Ileana has provided a Sketch Template and this is what I created with it.

These are photos of Gary's Father's Day Dinner 2011, which was probably the most indulgent meal I have ever created and was YUMMY! The frame is Ileana's IR00178, her files can be found HERE . The scrap kit is mine.... "Cookin' Up A Storm" .

The second layout is for Chris in my capacity as a member of her CT . Chris creates the most amazing files and I am so lucky to be on her Team. This particular file came from her last QMC which is a membership run every few months providing you with more than 20 files for the tiny sum of $10. This layout uses CD00910 - 2012 year of The Dragon, which is so new it isn't in the Store yet!

The photos are of a Bearded Dragon that frequents our yard at times. This one was quite happy to pose on the branch for some photos and seemed perfect to compliment Chris's file.

The cutter files have had styles and textures added to them to add dimension, the kit is mine, "Autumn Breezes" . Designed to show that personal cutter files can be used digitally very successfully!

Finally.... a new Freebie

well, what a month! we have been to Adelaide visiting family, had three lots of visitors here, celebrated Christmas til it's almost Easter (and Easter Eggs are on the shelves here) and I finally have a moment to post on my Blog. I haven't lost any Followers over my absence, thank to those of you willing to stick with me!

Can you believe we have had about 5 Christmas celebrations with various members of the family and not a single photo! Our first Christmas with Steve and still not a single pic. I think I just got tired of the ongoing presents, food and so on, and Nicholas stayed behind in Adelaide for a week, then went camping for a week, so we were never all together to celebrate properly either. I will do better next year !. I swear I have put on the weight I lost and I feel so blah!

ewwww! temporary distraction as I kill a spider that just dropped on my computer .....

I have a new Card template freebie for you at long last. i feel as though I haven't cut anything on my KNK for ages.... wait... it has been ages LOL

I have used CardStock by DCWV and paper from Crafters Choice. I have highlighted the scalloped mat and the buttons with Dimensional Magic and I used Kindy Glitz on the wings and accents of the Butterfly. Buttons are from Birch.

This card uses Shelly's 3D Butterfly from Paperthreads in the centre, but lends itself to other cutter files or a digital/rubber stamp. maybe a great big flower or a heart for Valentines.

New freebie Card Template

Hi all, hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving, on to Christmas now :)

Lachlan's first birthday party was wonderful... not sure how many more things could go wrong in the preparation though .... the hot water tap in the shower needed a special tool to fix after leaking solidly for two weeks, it rained so hard the patio area of Bec and Chris's house flooded which was where the party was going to be held, the tap in the kitchen split... I have never seen this before, the metal tap just split open and was spraying water out everywhere when you turned it on, the lollypops I made melted in the humidity, the jellies melted as well, the blue butter icing for the cake turned out green and curdled so we had to buy frosting from Spotlight, spent a fortune and only needed half the amount so we have a full tub of orange flavoured blue icing ready to be used! LOL , the wet dogs sat on three of the chairs we wanted to use for the visitors so were filthy... fortunately we had taken 12 chairs with us, so not so much of an issue! Steve didn't cope well with not being the center of attention and so was exceptionally loud! especially afterwards when we were all exhausted ! and.... and... well you get the idea!

After the party was over Bec gave Lachlan the remainder of the cake for a "Cake Smash" . Never heard of this before, but apparently it is becoming quite popular.... you let the child loose and then take heaps of photos!.... Lachlan had a ball .... I suggested they run a bath beforehand so it was ready when he was finished, and, bless him, once he had had enough, he just crawled off into the bathroom, leaving a little blue path behind him. Too, too cute!

and then... got back home and no internet as we had more than used up our measly allowance so no freebie for you til today!

I have a basic Christmas card for you today, one you can add to if you wish, but will work just as is... a great way to get some mass produced cards cut and ready to go!

I embossed my writing bu using red ink and the UTEE which made it a little more substantial. This is a very fine font so cut slowly! I also added Kindy Glitz to the tree and the trunk to make them sparkle. The ribbon is a gold thread, just doesnt show up very well in the pic.

Time for a new Card Template freebie!

Hi all, hope you are enjoying your weekend wherever you are! If you live in the US, I guess you are madly preparing for Thanksgiving ? We are getting organised for Lachlan's first birthday party, I cannot believe a year has almost past since this gorgeous boy entered the world!

I have another new Card Template freebie for you today but firstly I need to answer a question posed a couple of times in comments from last weeks post. A Peacherine is a cross between a Nectarine and a Peach... has the smooth skin of a nectarine but the yellow yummy tasting flesh of a peach! I love them so am really disappointed that the only tree not to wake up from Winter is this one. In our grocery stores now you buy yellow nectarines (my peacherine) or white nectarines which are the normal nectarines. Every one in the family loves nectarines except me... I'll eat them but just would not choose one over the other. Oh well... there's always next year.

and so on to our freebie.... This is my Card Template 11. I have used a digital stamp image from Dustin Pike on the front of my card, but it lends itself to embellishing, or other digital or physical stamps.

Unfortunately the arrow is not included as it came from Shelly's Art from Paperthreads but I am sure that if you wanted to add an arrow you could find one in the basic shapes of your cutting software.

Our vege garden and a New freebie!

Yesterday was my **nd birthday LOL and I had a pretty good day! Gary and Nicholas got together and made lunch and dinner, which was a wonderful present and Stevie gave me a handmade card inside a handmade little bag :) just perfect!

We also got outside and took heaps of pics of our vege garden and fruit trees that we have planted this year. The fruit trees have all taken off bar one, which of course happens to be my favourite fruit.. Peacherine! oh well, hopefully it will "wake up" at some stage and next year I will munching yummy fruit.

Just makes you wanna go out and pick something yummy to eat :)

Another Card Template Freebie! This is my Card Template 5. I have to say that I am over the moon with the reaction to my posting Card Template freebies... more comments than I ever received for my digital scrapbooking kits (for the most part) and reading those comments just makes my day! so THANKS to those of you that take the time to make me feel good! I appreciate it.

I'm a Winner and Lachlan's Album

oooh! very exciting, I won the Scarecrow Challenge over at Cuttin' Up With Class and got a cute badge to put on my Blog... my very first :)

I have been working on a huge project for Rebekah and Chris to celebrate Lachlan's first year. I cannot believe that he is almost a year old now. This album started out life as a mini 4" x 4.5" and just kept growing.. a bit like Lachlan! The finished item has a cover of 5" X 10" and I have gone from 1" ring to 2" rings to hold it all together. In this day of iPhones and Facebook and so on, not many photos are taken with an actual camera and certainly not many are printed out to share. I had to source these pics from phones, Facebook and my little supply I had on my camera. It has been a lot of fun creating this album and I really hope that Chris and Bec love it.

The album is made up of little pockets with tags in and other pockets that just hold pictures. The tags have photos attached or spots for journaling and I have added in extra pockets and journal spots in case they have extra pics I missed or want to add their own thoughts. The whole album was cut on my KNK Maxx, even the covers, which are paper covered cereal boxes. I had to purchase a Crop-a-Dile to punch the holes in the spine, but what a perfect reason to make the buy LOL

As well as my own designs for the album, I used a couple of cutter files from Chris Durnan and Jan Bryson from Visual Designs by Chris and The More Team! . From Chris I used CD00413 - Tab Book and CD00665 - Just a Pocket (can't find this one in the Store yet) and from Jan, JB00212 - Itty Bitty File Tabs and JB00486 - Joy Fold Card .

New Freebie - Card Template 1

Another freebie for you this week, my Card template 1. In my example I have not used a couple of the cutter files but they are included in all but the WPC file. Zip includes a strip where I have ribbon, and a circle, a flower and a button where I have my flower and button. Stitching is included in the PSD and PNG formats but not as a cutter file.

CUWC Scarecrow Challenge

Came across this Blog - Cuttin' Up With Class and discovered they are holding a Scarecrow challenge. I love Scarecrows so had to take part. I asked for the cut files and then decided I wanted to play around in Photoshop with my "Actions" collection and this is what I came up with. The actions are from Atomic Cupcake and include "felt" for his hat, "plastic" for his shoes, "frayed" for his trousers and shirt and "crumpled" for his face. He turned out really cute I think!

Trying out a new recipe

This evening we decided to try out a new recipe from the latest issue of Recipes+ (available from Woolies). This one was called Bacon and Egg Pie.

There are four eggs on the top, the recipe called for six!! but I had to cover one with a spinach leaf as it was leaking out of the side of the pie.

Recipe:

Serves 6
Prep: 30mins
Cooking Time: 1 and 1/2hrs plus cooling

2 sheets frozen shortcrust pastry, thawed (I used puff cos I read it wrong!)
1 tsp oil
4 green onions. thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (mine came out of a jar)
175gm bacon, rind removed, chopped
6 eggs lightly whisked, plus 6 extra (I will leave these off next time)
3/4 cup cream
100gm grape tomatoes, halved lengthwise (I only had proper ones so I diced two)
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
50gms baby spinach leaves (we used baby silverbeet leaves out of our vege garden)
Steamed mixed veges to serve (we had a baked spud)

1. Preheat oven to 180 C/160 C fan forced. Grease a 20cm springform pan. Gently press pastry sheets into the pan, overlapping the centre. Trim edge (allow some to fall over the edge and then trim as it shrinks whilst cooking). Prick base with a fork. Bake for 15 mins or until light golden brown (mine took about 25mins but that could be cos I used the wrong pastry sheets LOL) . Reduce oven to 160 C/140C fan forced.

2. Heat oil in a large frying pan over mod high heat. Add onion and garlic, cook and stir for 3 mins or until softened. Add bacon, cook and stir for 3 mins or until golden and cooked. Transfer to a large heatproof bowl and let cool.

3. Add whisked egg, cream, tomato, cheese and spinach to bacon mixture in bowl. Season. Stir well to combine. Pour into cooked pastry case. Crack the extra eggs onto the top of the mixture, taking care not to break the yolks. (I managed 4 but the last one overflowed) Bake for 55-60mins (I had to sit mine on a tray at it had overflowed and it took about 1 1/2 hrs to cook) or until set and light golden. Stand for 5 mins. Slice then serve with steamed veges.

Verdict: YUM YUM!

This evening Steve and I had a play with LUGZ. Ever heard of them... me neither but we have a box full :) The idea is to create layered creatures, people, buildings, using the LUGZ to hold them together. The LUGZ are magnetic and slotted. So you join the LUGZ together and then slide the pieces you want to play with into the slots and build up your creation.

Card Template freebie

I have been creating Card Templates for some time now and thought I could share them with you via my Blog. Some of you may already have these but I am hoping that for most of you, you will be downloading something new. Please let me know your thoughts on my giving away these templates in the comments.

I have to begin out of sequence, in fact I will probably post most of them out of order as it depends on whether I have finished the conversions or not :) as I am trying to offer them in as many cutter formats as possible as well as PSD files for Photoshop.

So.... we begin with Template 4. This template is one of my favourites as I really love the jigsaw pieces :) you can actually fit them together for a four piece puzzle :) below are two examples of this card, one showing the original picture before I cut it into pieces :)

Still using Box to download as that seemed to work so well. Formats included are AI, KNK, GSD, SVG, SCAL, WPC and PSD .

Another challenge being held over at VDBC is being run by Jan of Sam and Hailey Designs. It is a Colour Challenge. Well, you all should know how much I love Colour Challenges.... seems like I just need someone to present me with a colour palette and I am rushing off to start up Photoshop and see what I can come up with.

and with this kit and a file from Chris, I created this layout. A few years ago we went on a boat cruise out of Victor Harbour, South Australia. We were hoping to see Whales, but got Dolphins and Seal Lions instead. We still had a wonderful time, I love being out on the water, and if you look closely (and I mean really closely LOL), you can see two dolphins surfacing in my pic! The star speckled Dolphin is CD00584 - Sparkle Dolphins available HERE .

3rd Anniversary on at VDBC

it's on! Visual Designs By Chris and The More Team are turning THREE! There are heaps of Challenges going on .... check out the Forum.

Ileana from I Scrap Designs is holding a Tic Tac Toe Challenge and this is my entry.

For the card below I have used

IR00006 - Lattice Card available in the Store

IR00027 - Stems and Leaves available in the Store

IR00215 - Flowers Speak available in the Store

I have completed the top row and the right hand side column -

glitter or bling - I used Kindy Glitz on my stem

buttons - the ladybug is a button, but I had to get Gary to cut off the loop at the back so it would sit flat on my card

ribbon - the stems of my flowers are a light green ribbon

colouring - I cut the Lattice from white card and then coloured it with homemade glimmer mist

brads etc - I used brads as the centres of my flowers

I am really pleased with the finished result! Hope you like it too

Time Flies.....

This weekend coming up Visual Designs by Chris and the More team are celebrating their 3rd Anniversary! I have been involved with Chris for some time now as a member of her Design Team and it has been wonderful. Come on over and check out all the Challenges to come and some that are already running! And on the theme of celebrations......

My Baby's baby is nearly ONE years old... I cannot believe it. Lachlan loves the new Giggle and Hoot show on the ABC here and so Rebekah wants him to have a Giggle and Hoot themed birthday party... all blue and orange!! So out came Photoshop and my KNK Maxx and Make The Cut. I had just completed a Challenge over at Paperthreads to add two different textures to a cut up box and so used that knowledge to add this picture (that I created in Photoshop) to this JB00337-Candy treat box by Jan of Sam and Hailey Designs. As I am a complete newbie to MTC, it was definitely a challenge, but I am so pleased with the results. Little Hoot on the front is a Print and Cut which I have stuck on the front of the box with raised pop dots. MTC is just so easy to do P&C with, I wanted to keep on playing, but after the 24th one, the novelty was wearing off LOL

So here I am after another long break.. sorry guys life is just getting away from me! I am just popping in quickly to share some pics of my handsome, not quite 15yo, boy ready for his mock interviews at School. He looks so gorgeous! Just where did my little boy go.

Isn't he cute! of course I may be a little biased LOL

on another note, I am getting a new computer in a few weeks so hopefully will be back to designing without the lockups I am currently experiencing. So keep a watchful eye!

Last installment for Back To School kit

Last installment for this digital kit freebie! I am shattered so just a quick post. We have been spending up a storm today.... bought 11 fruit trees, so apparently we are set for life now with our choices.... just hope we get to see them bear fruit and our landlord doesn't suddenly decide he needs his mansion back ! This is highly unlikely any time soon, as we did ask him before making this huge investment as I didn't want to spend money on something others would benefit from and he said to go ahead! We also bought a new Breadmaker as our years old Sunbeam is not letting us get out the loaf without leaving a chunk behind in the pan. We have purchased a Breville Ikon BBM600, so will be back with a review after I tried it out. Rebekah is looking forward to our Sunbeam becoming a fixture in her kitchen, she doesn't even mind the chunk missing out of the bottom of the loaves! LOL

so long since I have posted

but we have been amazingly busy...

just back from a 2 week rush trip to Adelaide to see my Dad, suddenly rushed to hospital seriously ill. Our foster son has also been keeping us on our toes and I just don't seem to get to the computer as much as I would like.

oh... and did I mention, the laptop threw a fit and I had to re-install all my stuff, and I am still finding programs I need and have yet to install. We also made a move from a cold side of the house to a warm side of the house, thanks to a recently installed second hand wood heater. All this has kept me very busy.....

but.... I promise to be back on track soon with a new freebie for you all.

Latest projects!

Some jumpers for Lachlan and his "Superman" suit LOL He looks like he has the most amazing muscles in this all-in-one!

I have been sewing for Lachlan and I love these overalls from Ottobre 1/09 design #11. The first pair are from corduroy and the second pair from a light weight denim. Lachlan looks gorgeous in them although the legs do seem to ride up on him. I will make them again but lengthen the legs so that when they ride up, they still cover his ankles LOL

I designed the template for this card sometime ago but remade it for a Stamping Challenge currently being held over at Visual Designs by Chris.

Once again, the site I have used has let me down. It is getting really hard to offer Freebies without it costing us money. As it is, uploading and downloading bites into our Internet allowance, but to keep trying to download non-corrupt files is really bugging me.

Make The Cut software

so how many of you that use personal cutters have heard of Make The Cut. I hadn't until a little while ago when suddenly they hit the news as Provocraft (makers of Cricut cutters) were suing them. So I read up on the software and decided it wasn't for me as, although it cuts SVG files, it didn't cut to my KNK Maxx ... that was until just now.... Now this software has a Plugin you can download that enables you to cut SVG files directly to your KNK ! This is wonderful. There are so many sites out there in the WWW that have designs in SVG format, that until this Plugin was created, meant that I had to go through several stages to get the file in my KNK software to use it. Too much hassle for me, which cut out a large number of files that I loved.

You can try this software out for free, even cutting to your cutter, although a diagonal line will be cut through your file until you make the purchase and register your software. I decided to give it a try... and it worked perfectly!! So I took the plunge and made the purchase... my Mother's Day pressie to me LOL

There are a few sites that you can purchase this software from and it is certainly available for a great price at the moment, but I found a fantastic deal at Scrappy Dew. You get the same fantastic price offered everywhere else, BUT... contact Scrappy Dew after finalising your purchase through them and they will send you a link to download every collection that they have on site, over $90 worth! but only for the month of May. So.... if you are looking at this software for your cutter, head over to Scrappy Dew and snap up a bargain!

hello there, did you miss me ? LOL

I notice I have been absent for so long, I lost a Follower, oh well! them's the breaks in Blogger World. I do apologise for being absent for so long without a new freebie, but I finally went on holidays with my family! We had a wonderful time away, firstly a week in Queensland where we went to SeaWorld, DreamWorld, White Water World, visited Gary's sister and nephew and then Fishing!

Then off to Port Macquarie on the mid north New South Wales coast for the Easter long weekend for more fishing (we took our Tinny) and a visit to TimberTown. Nicholas and Stevie had a lesson in Whip Cracking. Nicholas was so good that the teacher spent time with him getting him to use his left hand (he is right-handed) and then use two hands at once. We were so impressed and he enjoyed it so much, we ended up buying him a Whip, which he can crack like a pro!

We all went for a ride in the Tinny on the Hastings River, it was beautiful! Gary and Nicholas went back to do some fishing and caught a few nice fish, which they were kind enough to release to swim another day!

Back home again and a mountain of washing to get through. How is it that one makes so much of the stuff while away! I even did a load whilst in QLD and still had loads when we returned. LOL

I do have a freebie for you all, although it is an oldie! I was asked by Ginger, a friend from VDBC for ideas for the April Bingo game whose theme was Digital! I provided this Kit and so thought I would offer it for all on my Blog as well. Some of you who have been with me for a while may already have it, sorry about that, I will try to have a new kit organised soon.

Well it looks as though we will be caring for another Foster child for a while. The "Powers That Be" are working out the finer details... like how to get him to school and back each day, but if that sorts itself out, then Steve will be coming to live with us for a while. He has some issues, ADHD and delayed intellectual development, and he is as busy as a bee! but he is lovely and I am sure he will fit in well.

I have the next installment for "Autumn Colours" today and some pics to share of my latest sewing project. Busy weekend ahead here, Nicholas is off to Canberra to spend a week working at the National Zoo and Aquarium for his Year 10 Work Experience and we just got a call to take a little 8yo boy for the weekend, perhaps longer, so forgive me if I don't get back with the final parts until next week :)

My Mum and Dad record TV programs to watch at their leisure and have been sending them to me once they have finished with them as I can't always get a good reception where we live. As a thank you for this effort, I made Mum a bag and sent Dad some shirts which I hope they both will like. This is a pic of Mum's bag, taken from an issue of "Beautiful Bags to Make" magazine. I liked the pattern so much I made myself one as well, close-up is of my bag!

Fishing success!

It's not often that Gary goes fishing and actually catches something. He firmly believes that he couldn't land a fish in a puddle LOL

and it looked as though the trip to the dam was going to have the same result. Nicholas and Gary were on the water for about 4 hrs before they decided to call it quits with no results. Pulling the boat ready to load and they met some guys that pointed them in the right direction, they took the plunge (haha) and set off to try once more. Apparently they hit the fish jackpot! No sooner had Nicholas dropped in a line, than he was pulling in a redfin. Gary managed to catch a few as well and they came home with about 40 redfin. Some of them were too small to keep but these fish are an introduced species, so cannot be returned to the water, so they have to kill and dispose of any fish they don't keep. You cannot throw them back even if they are dead, so bad are these fish at eating all our native species out of house and home.

For my American readers..... this is our Tinny, a 3.3 metre aluminium boat with an 8hp outboard motor.

Preparing to clean and gut! One tried to get away... can you see it ?

All cleaned, and heads chopped off. What an amazing job. While Gary cleaned and gutted, Nicholas rang me on the mobile and he could barely contain his excitement about their catch! So happy to hear that in his voice.

I asked Gary to try filleting the fish as I am not that good with whole fish, and we don't often get fresh fish to eat anyway. He did his best and by the time he got to the last of the three he chose to work with, he was doing a great job! I then floured, egged and crumbed them and this is the result. I have to say... they were delicious and even Nicholas (not keen on fresh fish) ate them all. I cant wait to try out different things with the rest of them now :)

I have been working on this kit for ages. It has an Autumn theme and I realise a lot of you are now heading into Summer, but here in the Southern Hemisphere, we are heading into colder months and so I am stuck in Autumn.... this season is also my favourite :)

As you can see. this kit is HUGE!

Kit contains:

12 papers - patterned and 12 papers - plain

2 bows, 2 brads, 2 butterflies, 3 buttons, 1 charm, 3 flowers, 1 folded paper, 3 frames, 3 leaves, 1 pageborder, 4 ribbons, 2 stars, 3 stickers, 3 strings, 4 tags, 2 tassels and 1 wordart!! Whew!!

My new nephew is finally here. Charlie made his appearance at 1am Japan time on the 4th March. He is so beautiful! Wish my sister and her family could just move Japan a little closer now so I could go visit! Congratulations to Christine, Ryo and Luke!

Amber put together this little quilt using Animals in Pyjamas embroidered squares, designs by Embroidery Library. Gary had embroidered the squares checking out the designs and Amber thought they would make a great blanket. Amber sewed the squares together for the front and the back and I put it all together. For a first attempt at sewing, I thought she did a fantastic job!

Look who popped in for a visit this morning. Mollie, our boxer, was barking at something on one of our trees and when I went out to investigate, I found this gorgeous Bearded Dragon. I called Mollie in and the Dragon crawled up onto this branch and sunned himself for the rest of the morning. Just beautiful!

He was quite large too!

YES!! at last... a new freebie!

I have been busy creating but have been having the most annoying time trying to upload the zips for my freebies. I am uploading each zip and then downloading again to check to make sure they are not corrupt and therefore wasting your time. This cuts into our Internet allowance hugely, which is a pain.... but the biggest pain is the time involved. I uploaded and downloaded 5 times last night trying to get just one file to download not corrupted! I have tried 4Shared and Mediafire.... no difference with either. Any suggestions ??

Anyway, I do have part one of my mini created for the Colour Challenge at SkrapHappens! so I hope you like it!

CT work.... at last!

wow! I feel like a have been away for ever :)

Our foster children are only with us for another few days and then move on to their Grandparents. I hope it all works out for them all. We will miss them terribly, but the tantrums will not be missed. Fostering is hard work and really gets to you emotionally, a lot more than I thought!

I created a memory page for us with some pics that Amber had taken on her camera. I love the closeups of their faces! I have used Shelly's SS00085 - Spring Splendor digital kit for this layout.

This layout was created a for a challenge on Shirley's Blog. I have used Shirley's SC00478 - Chickie Love and Shelly's SS00085 - Spring Splendor to create this layout of Gary and myself. Pictures were taken by Nicholas on his new camera that he got for Christmas.

I have used CD00809-Your Smile, a personal cutter file from Chris's latest QMC available from Visual Designs By Chris. This is the latest photo of my gorgeous grandson, Lachlan. Isn't he just too cute!

A very good internet friend sent me some pics of some projects she has been busy creating using my "Countdown to" cutter files.

Sue created the top project as a Countdown to Valentines, but thinks it would make a great perpetual calendar as well, and I agree! love the colours :)

I finally got a few moments to myself and got to work on some CT work.

This first layout uses a freebie just released by Sharon from RS Mobleys Designs of VDBC. How do you get this freebie?? You go HERE and sign up for the newsletter and apart from getting a freebie every now and then, you will get hints, tips and the heads up on the latest releases in the Store.

This next layout uses a few files from the last QMC that Chris magically creates every quarter. Chris designs the most amazing files but I really like her "Sparkle" files. This layout uses CD00786 - Holiday Sparkles and CD00790 - I Believe .

Styles and textures have been added to the cutter files to add dimension and interest.

It finally happened... just when we thought we were never going to be asked to be Foster Carers, we suddenly ended up with two children late Friday night. We are now caring for a 9yo girl and soon 4yo boy. So busy..... I had forgotten how much little children want from you and these two need constant attention :)

We are settling in, a few tears and tantrums, but we'll get there. Not sure how long this will be for, but I will be absent from my Blog for a little while I think.

Now.. for exciting news.... Rebekah is going to be induced on Thursday night! she has to stay in hospital so they can keep an eye on her and Lachlan, but by the weekend, we will be Grandparents. I will, of course, be posting pictures here ASAP so I can brag LOL

My Scrap Chick has the most amazing sale on at the moment - 65% off - so I had to take advantage of this... as you do ! LOL

This was one of my purchases..... Nativity 1 is one of a series of three files designs as 12" projects for display. So far I have only completed the first of the series, but it cut beautifully and I am on the hunt for two more matching frames to finish the three. I used cardstock from DCWV stacks, inked the edges and cut on my KNK Maxx. I also used a white gel pen to add some little stars to my night sky. I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

Rebekah wanted something for Lachlan to wear in hospital other than the awful gowns they had been shown which set me on a search to find drawstring sleepsacks for a tiny bub. I got rid of all my patterns when we moved from South Australia to New South Wales which I regret every day! However this one managed to avoid being ditched and worked out really well. I used Butterick 3812 in a NB size. The original sleeve was designed to have a foldover cuff, but I decided that as I was just making these for hospital and not long term, and I only had the one day to make them, I would remake the sleeve so that Rebekah could just fold it over if it was too long and that was a quicker make. The original pattern also included a hood which was bound and the ties extended to tie the gown at the neck. I didn't want the hood or the ties, so I just bound the neck and added two hand sewn poppers to close the opening.

really busy....

This last week I have been busy sewing for my soon to be here grandson, Lachlan! I found this quilt in an old 2007 Homespun magazine and it even had Lachlan's name on it, so it was meant to be! This is the first quilt I have actually finished and I am really pleased with the way it turned out. I took it to Rebekah's Baby shower on the weekend, and fortunately, she loved it too!

This is another "Sparkle" file that Chris Durnan has created as another fantastic file in this last QMC for 2010. This Scarecrow is from a collection, CD00770 - Halloween Sparkles, and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use in a layout celebrating our new Vegetable garden! I have created this layout in Photoshop CS3. Styles, textures and shadows have been added to create dimension to the layout.

have you missed me!! Here are some pics to show you what we have been up to over the last couple of weeks! We started a vege garden! Some time ago, Gary had started fencing off an area out the back for a vege garden, but hadn't got very far. So I thought that we should finish it and get it planted. We decided to go for slightly raised beds, these being created using 2.4 X .2 X .5mt sleepers which we turned on their sides. The beds are 2.4mts X 1.2mts and we have dug up underneath to remove all the weeds and then topped up the beds with a vege garden mix from Australian Native Landscapes. Sleepers and hardware came from Bunnings.

We began with the thought of three beds, but this quickly grew to four!

We are expecting a huge locust plague this season, so we are preparing the beds to be covered with netting to protect the seedlings from being eaten! We have hammered in 2 poles at either end of the beds and then pushed over 4mts of polypipe to create an arc. This will hold the netting away from the growing plants.

Sweetcorn, burpless cucumbers, apple cucumbers and brown onions

Lettuces, silverbeet, perpetual spinach and capsicums

Carrots, spring onions, leeks, celery, cherry tomatoes and tomatoes

Cabbages, cauilflowers and brussel sprouts

Netting to protect our investment. We ended up expanding the garden to almost twice it's original size and now have lots of pots with Herbs in them and a 2.4mtr square bed for potatoes as well!

We decided to take one of the smaller rooms as our bedroom and changed our bedroom into my sewing room. This has made my sewing room a huge area, about 6mts X 4mts and so full of light. It was in the middle of a line of bedrooms before, one of which is my scrapbook room and the other a guest room. We are now in the guest room and the guest is in the darker room in the middle. It is great not to have to turn on a light just to see in the room, and I have so much space for cutting out and working! just wonderful. Now I just need my machines back from being serviced and I am ready to roll!

so..... as you can see I have been really busy these last couple of weeks, I havent fogotten you, my readers looking for freebies! Just had other things to think about! I am still working on a "Fall" kit but it taking a while to put together, but it will be worth waiting for as it is HUGE!

Freebie Time!!

We went to Floriade whilst in Canberra last weekend and took a heap of photos of the gorgeous flowers. I have wanted to visit this Show since we moved over here (NSW) but this was the first time it worked in with what we were doing. The flowers were gorgeous, but I did discover a downside..... I know that strong smells give me a migraine... and guess what!! some flowers have really strong smells, especially when there are thousands of them all together LOL The flowers were organised as pictures, which is some cases was hard to see which was a shame. You really needed to get up higher to see the complete pictures created by the blooms but it was still gorgeous!

More pics as the week goes on!

I have a new freebie for you all, although it is an older kit so some of you may already heave this download. If so, I do apologise, I am working on a new kit but it is taking it's time to evolve!

They are sooo versatile as you can use them on cards, journals, and calendars. It would be great to use them to hide hidden journaling or extra photos on a layout. A few cards from me for my Personal Cutter file Designers. This first card uses SS00124 -Cutie Bee available from Paperthreads by Shelly's Art. I took Shelly's Cutie Bee and made it smaller to fit on my card but it still cut beautifully with my 15" KNK Maxx.

This card is one of a set of three files found in Sharon's file, RM00094 - Card fronts and Tags. I added the layered flower in the front but it sits on a layered piece of card that you could place a stamp or similar on.

This card uses CD00174 - Tiger Inchies, another wonderful file designed by Chris Durnan for this Quarter's QMC. Well over 20 files (last Quarter - 29 files) for $10.00 and well worth the cost.

We had another 36mm of rain over the weekend. This doesn't sound like a lot of rain, but the ground is so waterlogged that it is causing major problems with the roads. Our driveway is just one long mud bath, Rally Drivers would be more than at home on it! LOL

However, today is gorgeous, the sun is shining and the sky is blue! Now I just need it to warm up just a fraction....

One of LisaJane's gorgeous files.

I used LK00064-Pirate card to create this card. I cut it twice and then used the second card to line the first as my decorated cardstock was white on the backside and I wanted it black. I used my gluegun to apply the sails and the skull, curving them slightly so that they would be raised off the card base. I also "stitched" casually around the white with my black marker.

Wouldn't this make a gorgeous birthday card or invite for a little Pirate that you know!

Christmas Cards

I seem to have caught the bug which dictates that I should get an early start on making my Christmas Cards.

This first card has been cut out of DCWV cardstock using CD00744-Ho Ho Holy Night, a personal cutter file (Cricut, Pazzles, Klic N Kut etc), by Visual Designs by Chris. Every quarter, Chris designs a stack of files for her QMC and this is one of the latest additions to the 3rd QMC for this year.

The file cut like a dream and layered well! I love the final look. I did cut 2 of Santa and then layered the 2nd over the top to give my reindeer a different colour. Very happy, Thanks Chris!!

This next card is one I designed. Every month Paperthreads has a Card Sketch Challenge and this month they are using a sketch I provided. Head over and check it out. If you sign up, you will receive FREE files to cut this file using your personal cutter (Cricut, Pazzles, Klic N Kut etc), as well as a PSD file to use in your photo editing software.

I have used a digital stamp by Dustin Pike, which I coloured in Photoshop CS3 and then printed out.

so not happy!! We have used our Internet allowance for this month so everything now is charged at 5c/meg til the 1st of September. We have accepted this and were prepared to pay through the nose again! until last night I went to shut down my computer and the Usage Meter supplied by the ISP had recorded over 800Meg of use whilst we weren't even home. We are still arguing over usage we were charged for last month that we feel was incorrect, and now this... so mad!!

We had Parent/Teacher interviews yesterday afternoon and all of Nicholas's Teachers had the same thing to say.... very clever boy, lots of potential, not living up to it! They are all so nice at his School, really helpful, and they just want we want.... the best for him. Why is it that kids don't get this LOL

anyhow... I'm sure you don't visit to read my raves so without any more ado..... here is the 2nd Quickpage in this series.

Water, water everywhere....

Another 12mls of rain since Monday... good grief! Our tanks are full, times like this we wish we had another couple of larger above ground tanks to catch all this water just slipping away.

We went for a walk on the weekend down to the dam in the next paddock. This dam has been emptying rapidly since we moved in and was down to a very small puddle in the bottom. Even the turtles living in it were struggling to stay under the water as there just wasn't enough. Even the rain we had earlier in the year didn't do much to fill it as the ground was so dry. but..... with all the rain we have had recently a lot made it into this dam. So much so that a new dam appeared as the larger dam further up the hill overflowed. Our dam has also overflowed and a second dam over the fence has also overflowed.

Not so long ago, Nicholas and a friend camped on the banks of the dam over the fence, now they would be very wet as that flat area has disappeared. After a fishing trip and we had some yabbies leftover, Gary and Nicholas had to walk down the side of the dam to release them in the water, now the water is maybe two feet lower than the bank. The track between the two dams is a muddy puddle and of course, it has dried out quite a bit since the rain. It was so beautiful down there and so peaceful. Mollie also had a ball. Now we are working on patching up Nicholas's canoe (it is vinyl) so that he can have a paddle in the water before it disappears.

(PS The Yabby or Yabbies is a fresh water crustacian found in Australia, which is sometimes used for bait)

A new freebie

Still very wet here and we have had a little more rain as well, but we did brave the road yesterday and got out to do some grocery shopping. This meant that we have stocked up a bit more should we be rained in again soon. We are expecting more rain on Wednesday so who knows :)

"In Gear" seemed to well received so I created an AddOn. This kit has a few pieces of Word Art that I liked and matched the theme. Thanks to Lisa for the suggestion of Tape..... it is included! Digital Scrap Garden is running a new Colour Challenge this month to use Pink and Purples in your layout. Funny how you can look at a colour and think.. easy peasy... and then find out it is not as easy as you first thought. I always try to include new things in my kits and not have them look like each other and like all the other kits out there. Wonder if I am achieving this. Do you feel you are getting the same stuff over and over, just different colours?? Please leave a comment and let me know. I would love to know your thoughts.

It is so cold here it has been difficult to work in my Study to get anything done, but my new mats and blades arrived for my KNK and I felt it calling my name :)

Paperthreads run a Card Challenge every month and I have been supplying the sketch for the last few months but this month Shelly has done all the work and I wanted to take part. I have used Shelly's card base as supplied for the challenge and her SS00150-Accordion Flowers for the front. Head over there and take part, free files are supplied and you go in the running for a prize at the end.

I also wanted to take part in the monthly Sketch Challenge at Visual Designs By Chris. This month Kristal is supplying some files to work with and the sketch is from Becky Fleck of Pagemaps fame. This layout has been created digitally and I have applied styles and textures to the cutter files to add dimension. The digital kit is mine.

CT work

Having been slack for awhile now for my CT commitments due to visitors and stress ! I thought I should get a head start on August!

My first layout is from Sharon of RSMobleys Designs. This layout uses RM00085 - 4th July and I have added styles and textures to the cutter files to add dimension. Pictures have been found on the Internet.

This next layout celebrates the impending birth of our new Grandson. I was lucky enough to be present for the second set of Ultrasound pictures which was a special treasure for me. Layout uses LK00058-Ultrasound and I have added styles and textures to the cutter files to add dimension.

This layout uses CD00732 - Moving Day, a file from the latest QMC. I have added styles and textures to the cutter files to add dimension. The photos in this layout are from our huge move from South Australia to New South Wales 2 yrs ago... hard to believe we have moved again since then!

I found the pictures for this layout on the Internet. The layout uses DW00306 - In The Woods, a great collection of animals and trees that you would find in the woods. I have added styles and textures to the cutter files to add dimension.

Last installment for "Citrus Flower" today. I will miss this kit, I think it is one of my favourites although not my usual choice of colours! At the very the last minute, true to form, I decided to create kit for the Digital Scrap Garden Colour Challenge for July! The colour theme was Yellow, and I thought when I was creating it, it was primarily Yellow.... but looking at my preview, it seems more orange and lime!!

still.... I am happy with the way it turned out anyway! LOL

Template freebie

hey there Strangers :) thought I might try a different sort of Freebie for a while..... Templates! These are great tools to use for scrapbooking and cardmaking. You can use them digitally and just clip your papers to the different layers, or print out the sketch and use it as a guide for making your own layout in paper and card. Templates and sketches are only meant to be a guide and there are no laws that you must stick to the template format... use it as a springboard and make it your own.

I have been helping out at the Paperthreads Card Challenge for a couple of months and had the chance to create some Card templates. As a bonus, not only are the PSD files included for the sketch but also some cutter files!

Wondering about my life at the moment ?? Our mechanic has advised us that we are pouring too much money into the Ford and that we need to look at another vehicle. We have decided to try and save some money til December and see where we are then and what is around :)

We found someone locally to deliver some wood for $120AUS for a ute load. It is great stuff, heavy as lead and burns really well.... when it gets going... the trick is to try and get it going LOL

Still waiting on the part for the chainsaw, could be another 2 weeks arrrgggggggg!!

Gary fixed the dryer so I can dry our washing which is great! and the little car is going well :) the police are on the job of pursuing our stolen property, but I don't hold out hopes :( A hard lesson for Nicholas as well which pains me.

What else could possibly go wrong!

I am fed up and probably shouldn't be posting on my Blog as this is supposed to be my "Happy Place" and certainly one where you guys don't want to read about my dramas.... but I feel the need to get it down on paper... so to speak.... and so you are the lucky ones that get the news.

We seem to be having a very bad run at the moment. A few weeks ago our VHS/DVD player broke down. We managed to replace it, but had to return the new one the next day as it didn't work. now the replacement seems to be working, except that after a couple of hours of recording stuff of the TV, the sound goes and we watch the rest of the program in silence. Then the belt on the Dryer broke, right in the middle of a load of washing naturally!

Nicholas had a friend over for the weekend a week ago and they discovered that the remote on the TV in the Games room wasn't working and this meant they couldn't play the Playstation as the TV has no AV selector on it. Not a huge drama, but one more thing. Then after this friend had left, we discovered that we had "lost" a few things. A couple of mobile phones, headphones and then Gary also discovered that his USB thumb drive was missing.... with all his backups of his Bookkeeping study that he had been doing all year! Of course Gary was fuming!! This has been a headache as Nicholas has had to accept that his friend is no friend at all, and Gary spent the week going to and from this teenagers house trying to get him to return the stuff he took. Finally Nicholas got word through another friend that this boy had "found" his mobile phone at the bottom of his bag. Nicholas now wants the whole matter dropped as we had by this time threatened with the Police. I can understand that N is worried about his standing with his friends, after all, ones friends are very important, but this is a hard lesson in some people do not deserve your friendship. We are worried about bullying at school when we aren't around, but fortunately we have just started two weeks of school holidays so it will be some time before he sees this boy again and we will be in touch with the school so they will keep an eye on him. We filed a Police report on Monday afternoon and the Policeman let us know that he knew the family really well. He spoke to the boy and got Nicholas's phone back and is going to formally interview him on Thursday, so we will see what happens from that. Silly child.... surely he must realise that "finding" the phone just confirms that he took it in the first place! Just backs up our claims that he is a thief! and the policeman wants to make the complaint we made formal as he is fed up with this child as well.

Then..... could it get worse you ask..... OH YES!! of course if you have been reading my Blog you will know that the car blew up! The mechanic has labelled it "Terminal" and not worth the money to fix it.... we now have to convince him it may not be worth it to him, but as a couple surviving on disability support payments, we don't have a choice ...... we cannot get a loan to buy another 4WD nor could we afford the repayments, so we need to fix the one we already have.

Then Gary went to cut some firewood on the weekend (it is freezing here -5C most nights) and the chainsaw stopped working. Apparently it has some part that pumps oil to the chain (which we had only just replaced the day before) and this part had stripped off some teeth and no longer pumped as it should. G rang the place he had bought the new chain from, and was basically told the chainsaw was crap! sorry folks! So now we need a new chainsaw.... only another $500 to replace it!

so... is there any good news you ask.....

Fortunately, we had a little sedan that one of my daughter gave to us some months ago as it was unregistered, needed work and was clogging up her driveway. Gary flew to Adelaide in Feb to collect it and it has been sitting in the yard ever since as we couldn't afford to get it registered here in NSW. I managed to rearranged some bills and not pay others LOL so we could get the car registered. Of course it needed new brake lines and G neglected to clear it with the Mechanic that we pay in a fortnight, so after the job was done and he didn't pay, he managed to really upset the woman (whose owns the shop with her Mechanic hubby) as they don't do accounts...... this is the mechanic that we need to keep happy so that he will work on our car! he managed to smooth that situation over a bit and drove to the next mechanic to get the registration check done. Unfortunately, not all mechanics in NSW can do rego checks, you need one that is approved to do a full check as this is the first time registered in NSW. Next time, it wont be so much of a headache, but that first rego is a pain as they go over the car with a fine tooth comb. This sedan is a 1986 car, so as you can imagine, it is not perfect and we were a little worried it wouldn't pass. However, it did pass and G headed off to pay $450 for the insurance we needed to have before it could be registered. That done, he headed for the Roads Transport Authority office to registered the car, transfer it from South Australia to New South Wales and get new plates for it. Simple you would think..... oh no!! ..... I had a form I had to fill out, a Stat Dec I had signed and witnessed, an email from my daughter transferring ownership, but not enough! They still wanted more. It took Gary an age to finally get approval from the "head honcho" to register the car, and only because they couldn't get hold of my daughter after trying a few times.

G took apart the chainsaw and contacted a few people and finally found someone that had the part we need and only for $57 . A lot cheaper than a new chainsaw and may get us out of trouble for this Winter anyway. Now we just have to wait for payday (another 2 weeks) to afford to get it. In the meantime, we are freezing here and trying not to use the small amount of wood we have already cut and not use the electricity as our next bill looks as though it will be over $1000.00 !!!!!!!!! already ( and this for 3 people for 3 months). But... at least we can get the part!

I managed to get to Sydney to attend my eldest daughter's Ultrasound for the new baby. Very exciting! but a little surreal! Strange to think my baby is having a baby... and after so many yrs of trying as well! Turns out that we are having a little boy ........ Lachlan James .......... and he wasn't being terribly co-operative LOL The machines are so amazing now, they can do a 3D image, but Lachlan would look at the camera LOL so it took the technician ages to get a pic where you could actually see him.

I am having my last day on the computer for a while as we have an Interstate visitor arriving tomorrow and she is here for the next two weeks. I hope she is prepared for the cold LOL

So.......... I will try to get a freebie up soon for you, please forgive me for not getting one organised, but if you have read this far...... I hope you can understand why!

Disaster!!

Yesterday the motor in our 4WD had the audacity to blow up! So now we are madly trying to get a little old sedan we have registered so we at least can get Nicholas to and from the school bus. We live 15kms away from the bus stop and 35kms away from the school and 80kms away from the nearest Woolies..... this is not good!

as I am too stressed to think I am sorry to say there is no freebie at the moment. Just wanted you to know that I haven't forgotten you all!

I was working on some projects using files from Diana's Designs from Paperthreads. These are what I came up with...

"Thankful" uses a Rose overlay that works really well digitally!

This is another file in the collection cut in paper... looks gorgeous! Although this collection is not in Diana's store, she does have a lot of other wonderful files to purchase.... check them out HERE .

This next series of layouts uses DW00251-Lace Collection. The photos are from the Internet and the digital kits are mine.

This month's sketch challenge at Visual Designs by Chris is all about Tags!! Tina from Cardiology Creations has provided the cutter files for this challenge and the great thing is..... it is never too late to join a challenge at this Forum! The cutter files, sketch files and ideas are all still available from previous months, so if you are looking for some inspiration as well as some freebies.... head HERE and check them out!

I used Tina's files to create this Tag digitally. I haven't done this before, but I think it turned out well and now it is ready to use on a layout!

latest CT work

I have been doing some work with Photoshop with some files from my designers that I CT for and this is what I came up with!

The first layout is photos of Gary, Aimee, Nicholas and myself enjoying some ice creams when we were on hols in Tasmania. They were huge and absolutely divine! I have used TM00005-Here's the Scoop by Cardiology Creations for this layout.

This next layout is celebrating Father's Day using Sharon's RM00079-Father's Day Golf Title. It seemed appropriate to use this file for Gary as he loves Golf. The smaller photo shows Nicholas, Gary and John (Gary's Step dad).

The next card has been created using another of the great files Chris Durnan puts out each quarter in her QMC. I have added styles and textures to the files to create the right look! I was really pleased with the way the high heeled shoes looked after adding a style to them.

This next card was created using a file by Kristal of DigiKitty, given out as a prize for taking part in a challenge that Kristal ran. I think it turned out quite well :) Although DK00063 is not yet in the VDBC Store, here is a link to other great files that Kristal has available!

This layout was created using SS00118- Great Outdoors file created by Shelly of Shelly's Art. If you're quick, this file is currently on special for $1.00 til midnight Friday!

several things...

One of the very talented members of the KNK Yahoo group makes the most amazing Cupcake Wrappers. You can find some HERE as well. Some time ago she promised me to create a Cupcake wrapper with a Aussie theme..... and these were well worth the wait! Aren't they amazing!! I cut them from gold and silver card and they cut beautifully even with all the detail! Thanks Judy!!

Lisa from Filekutz has a Challenge on her Blog at the moment! If you become a Follower of her Blog, you can then email her for a couple of Father's Day files. The Challenge is then to create cards with these files, send her pics and go in the draw for a voucher to spend in her Store! Check it out HERE !

Here are the cards I created using these files. The first card is a pocket type card.... I stitched the back of the card to the Apron front and also stitched the pocket on the front as well. The BBQ tools were cut from silver glitter card and look much better in real life :) The large tag is designed to fit in the pocket at the back of the card and the wording is also included in the file!

The Vest card is the first I have seen that includes a piece to form a collar on the shirt. I used brads to hold down the collar and smaller matching brads to hold my thread of beads to form a chain on the Vest. The words are also included in the file and I used them on the inside of my card.

Today's download for "Garden Follies" kit is the Blue papers. I hope you enjoying the pieces of this kit.... look out for Ribbons and Bows next :)
