We had an exciting experience yesterday. Called outside by Mollie barking loudly, eventually Nicholas and I went to investigate. As Nicholas had no shoes on, I followed Mollie into the back paddock and he went to get his shoes. Well, a surprise awaited me. Mollie had bailed up a 4 foot long King Brown SNAKE!!!!!!! it has been a while since I have discovered a snake that close to the house and it was really very cross with Mollie barking in it's face!

Nicholas came out the back door, so as I heard it bang I yelled for him to get his Dad, Gary, who needed shoes and a spade! Fortunately, Nicholas understood straight away my meaning and ran off. Even Gary managed a bit of a spurt and was at my side quite quickly. It took several thumps with the spade to get this snake (yes I hear you all going "poor snake". I have no problem with them out in the the wild, but not a few feet away from my back door is NOT on!). Mollie was really good at barking and distracting the snake, but it did have a go at her and the spade. Very scary, it was huge, and it took ages for it to stop wriggling. Still gives me the willies just typing the story!

well, that is my news for today!

Have a great day wherever you are!

I have really enjoyed collecting the parts to this beautiful kit! Thank you so much for sharing! As for that poor snake...he should have stayed away from your back door! :-)

Thanks for the kit files. What a contrast with your story. Next time, have him run and get the spade and a camera! I bet you could digitize some snakeskin designs for part of a kit.

THank you for the lovely kit and story, I had the same thing happen here, My dog Jenny barks at everything but this time her bark was different I went out on the deck and a three foot rattle snake was only a short distance away I got the dog inside and threw rubber boots at it to get it to move along, rattle snakes are endangered here it took three of my kittens but thankfully my Jenny was okay.

THanks again for the kit have a snake free week, blessings to you and family!
